Victims' Stories: Raine

• Met Jaspreet in India in December 2003, and married him on December 28th, 2003
• Stayed with him for about 2 months in India, and came back to Canada on March 6,2004
• Submitted Family Class paperwork in March 2004, and he was granted his Visa in August 2004
• He migrated to Canada August 11,2004 and abandoned her and the marriage on April 18,2005
• He did not make any contact with her since the day he disappeared. She tried on numerous occasions, via phone or through her relatives in India, to try to get his contact number from his parents in India, they would not assist
• He did not make any contact with her since the day he disappeared
• Contacted CIC in May 2005 to report about his fraud but was told that they cannot do anything
• She went to India in December 2005 and talked to his parents but they again refused to give her his contact number
• Wrote a letter to Minister of Immigration in May 2006 and got a response on July 21,2006 that she should send a letter to CPC in Mississauga
• June 30th,2006 she was surprised to receive a divorce petition from him and from these documents, came to know that he is now a resident of Edmonton, Alberta
• Suffered emotionally, mentally and financially. Is leading a stressful life ever since then and is emotionally destroyed
