Victims' Stories: Abrar
- Abrar was married in February 2005 and sponsored his wife through Family
Class sponsorship
- His wife arrived in Canada on December 13th, 2005
- A big wedding ceremony was held in Toronto and 300 guests were invited
- Abrar was madly in love with her and always tried to pamper her by
different means, as newly wed couples do
- On February 17th, 2006, after receiving her Permanent Residence and Social
Insurance cards, she called the Police twice that day and claimed that she was
not feeling secure in his home
- She packed everything in Police custody including jewellery, clothes, gifts
and some cash that was given by Abrar, and his parents
- She left his home in the presence of police, and ran away (right after two
months of their marriage) to Surrey B.C. where her aunt lives
- Abrar felt/feels a great deal of stress, had/has problems eating and
sleeping; feels destroyed emotionally and financially
- Police report clearly states there were no threats and no violence. No
arrests and no charges were made; his wife said to Police that she does not
want to live with him, and felt suffocated there and will not come back to his
house
- He spent $40,000 on the relationship from day one, and now she is on
welfare, which means more loss of money for Abrar
- She deceived, used and abandoned him for her personal gains (to get legal
status in Canada)
- He tried to contact many Canadian Government agencies and authorities, but
their responses were/are very disappointing
- Feels that there is no one who can help him
